There has never been a significant presence of Kindred in the San Francisco area due to a variety of factors, namely the high presence of Keui-Jin and Fera. The Camarilla has had little interest in the area due to these populations; that is, until recently. Three months ago, the Camarilla gained control of the Aureno Bank of California and used this position of power to install the first Prince of San Francisco, Dante Costello, of the Giovanni Clan. The youngest of the Costello branch of the clan, Dante’s installation as Prince was surprising to Kindred high society and the Awakened population of San Fransisco. An unremarkable son, Dante was a strange choice to many, and faith in his prowess as a leader is low among the Camarilla.

However, this has not deterred the Prince. Determined to become a beloved and influential Prince, Dante has immediately set into motion a plan to win over the people of the city through acts of philanthropy and generous loan policies through the bank. Unlike other Princedoms, Dante holds a philosophy that it is better to be loved by subjects rather than feared. He has been running full throttle to gain the support of the people for the Camarilla, as well as bring more Kindred into the city. So far, he has only managed to win over the Mercurius Maximus University and gain their support.

Unknown to most, Dante was given a timeline by his influential Clan and the Camarilla itself to set up his successful Princedom: one year. His own eternal life is on the line should he fail, and there are forces in the city who would have him fail, such as the Red Deer Court and the Pan-Feta Confederation, who aren't too keen on the Camarilla moving into the city. Dante's ultimate plan is to integrate the Camarilla and, thus, Kindred, into San Fransisco society by eventually installing a Kindred mayor or city council member. This goal is at odds with the Pan-Fera Confederation's goals to install Hector Asisara as mayor of San Fransisco.

The House of Gold is the name of the company that Dante runs in conjunction with being the CEO of the Aureno Bank, which operates as a 'procurement service', facilitating the purchase of antiques, artifacts, art, and other expensive and exclusive items to both the Sleeping and Awakened world.
